I’m so excited to share these Mickey pumpkin luminaries on the blog today! If it’s wrong to use too many Mickey pumpkins in my Halloween decorations, then I don’t want to be right! These add the perfect festive Disney flair to my front porch, and they are so quick and cheap to make!

After purchasing some new items for my indoor Halloween decorations, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on my outdoor space. But my front porch was looking a little drab. I DID have a lot of flameless votive candles that I wasn’t using and a neglected stack of paper lunch bags sitting on top of my fridge. Luminaries are cute, but you know what’s even cuter? MICKEY PUMPKIN LUMINARIES. These are an easy and fun craft to do with your kids that can add a festive Disney touch to your indoor or outdoor decorations!

My amazingly crafty and talented friend Katie made these templates for me. She also makes beautiful embroidered flower necklaces—check out her Etsy shop and her Instagram to see!

Instructions

Print out the templates and cut out the ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. Fold down the middle of each ear along the lines marked “fold line.”

Tape the template to the front of a paper lunch bag. I recommend using the side without the seam so it will be easier to cut and the final product will be a little sturdier. Fold the ears around the edge of the bag so that half the ear will be on the side.

tracing the mickey ear around the side of the paper bag

Trace the template with a marker or pen—around the ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. Don’t forget about the half of the ear on the side of the bag!

Cut around all your traced lines. I cut down the top of the bag and around the side and cut down the back to make Mickey’s ears pop out!

Add a little sand to the bottom of the bag so it won’t blow over and nestle a flameless votive candle in the center.

Switch on the candles when it gets dark and enjoy your festive, fun decorations! This is as close as I’ll get to a real flickering Mickey pumpkin this season, so I’m gonna enjoy it! 😊

I am not a super crafty person, but honestly these were super easy! And if you mess up a bit with your cutting (like I obviously did lol), it’s really hard to tell at night once they’re lit—they just look cute! 🎃
