Disney is not a cheap vacation by any means, but if you can find the right deal it can be affordable! We’re always looking for ways to save money on our Disney World vacations. Did you know that you can add a new special offer to an existing Disney World vacation booking?

If you’re booking everything yourself (like I do), you might not even know where to look for Disney’s special offers. It’s waaay at the bottom of their website, under Places to Stay. If you click on Special Offers, you’ll be able to see all the current discounts. This can range from % off room rates to free dining.

Even when we already have a trip booked in, I keep an eye on this page (and on the Instagram stories of accounts like @disneyfoodblog) to see if Disney comes out with any discounts we might be able to apply to our trip or any discounts that might be better than one we currently have.

We’ve had our 2021 trip booked since June, and I’ve been keeping a close watch on the Special Offers because we booked at the standard rate and we do NOT want to pay the standard rate. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This week, Disney finally released a discount for travel dates in Spring 2021, and I jumped on it! I originally thought I would have to call Disney to get them to apply the discount, but it turns out you can apply the discount to your existing booking yourself right from the website.

Follow these simple steps and you’ll be saving money in no time!

After you sign in, navigate to the My Disney Experience drop down menu (upper right) and click on My Plans.

Arrow pointing to My Plans under My Disney Experience.

Scroll down a bit to the “My Plans, Reservations and Tickets” section. Then click Change Reservation.

Click Change Reservation to save money on Disney World.

Under Vacation Offers, you’ll see your current offer or it will just say “Standard Rate” if you booked at the regular price. Click on Change at the right side of the page. This will take you to the page for the resort you booked, and it will have the offers that apply to your vacation package listed. Choose the best offer!

Choose the Special Offer that applies to your existing booking to save money!

(The above screen shot looks a little different because I’ve already applied the discount. Normally it would say Original Reservation: Standard Price Package, and the Special Offer would be on the right.)

After you’ve chosen the best offer, scroll down. It should have the room type you originally selected marked. Then click Select at the bottom.

The next page you’ll see will be the tickets page. At this point it starts to feel like you’re booking a whole new vacation package, but I promise you’re not! Your original selections for the number of park tickets and park hopper option, etc. should still be marked. Click Select again.

On the next page, scroll to the bottom and click Check Out. Don’t worryโ€”it’s not going to charge you anything extra or make you pay another deposit! Everything will stay the same, except the amount owed will go down and that’s what we want!

You should see the amount you already paid and the amount you owe (should be lower than it was if you applied a discount). It should say amount due today $0.00. Click confirm to see the Mickey balloons like you just booked your trip for the first time! So exciting! You should also receive a confirmation email in a few minutes.

Enjoy your savings!

The current offer for Early 2021 saved us 20% off our room rate at Pop Century, which came to about $400 for us! (Room discounts like this one are tiered like the resorts, so the highest discount will be for Deluxe resorts and the lowest for the Values. We’re staying at Pop Century, so we saved 20%, not 35%.)
