I recently made these Oogie Boogie dirt pudding cups for our Nightmare Before Christmas movie night, and they were a huge hit with my family! And the best part is they were SO EASY to throw together!

What You’ll Need
  • clear, plastic cocktail-size cups (like these)
  • black sharpie
  • large box Jello instant vanilla pudding (you could also use cheesecake or white chocolate flavor—just make sure whatever you use is a light enough color to take the green food coloring!)
  • three cups cold milk
  • green food coloring
  • half a container of Cool Whip
  • about 10 oreos
  • gummy worms
How To
Four clear plastic cups pictured with a black sharpie. The cups have Oogie Boogie's face from The Nightmare Before Christmas drawn on them for oogie boogie dirt pudding cups.

First, mix up your pudding so it has time to set up in the fridge. If you use a large box of Jello instant vanilla pudding, you’ll need to whisk it with three cups of cold milk for about two minutes. (If you’re not using Jello brand, follow the instructions on the box of whatever you have!) I added in about 5 drops of green food coloring in the last 30 seconds or so of mixing. You want it pretty green at this stage because you’re going to mix in the Cool Whip later, which will dilute the color a little bit. Once you’ve mixed for at least two minutes, pop the pudding in the fridge so it can continue to set.

While the pudding is chilling, draw your Oogie Boogie faces on the outside of your cups. This takes a little time, but it’s really not hard. I looked at a picture of Oogie Boogie while I was drawing, but you really just need two half-moon-shaped eyes (one a little bigger than the other) and a big, gaping smile with a few stitches along the border. The best part about drawing Oogie Boogie’s face is it’s supposed to be imperfect! I ended up using 5 cups.

The plastic cups from the previous photo now filled with green pudding and topped with oreo cookie crumbs and gummy worms to make oogie boogie dirt pudding cups.

Next, crush some Oreos to make the “dirt.” I scraped the cream out of about 10 Oreos and put them in a Ziploc bag and just smashed them with a rolling pin. Once the pudding has been in the fridge for 5–10 minutes, it should be set. Mix about half a container of Cool Whip with the pudding.

Now it’s time to assemble the cups! Fill each cup with the pudding/Cool Whip mixture, then top with crushed Oreo “dirt” and a handful of gummy worms. Serve immediately, or refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Refrigerate any leftovers!

Do you consider The Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?

Either way, I hope you enjoy these Oogie Boogie dirt pudding cups! I think they’d be perfect for NBC movie night, a Halloween party, or just a random Tuesday night!
